Hello friends! By now, I'm sure you've noticed
the absence of new content in 2019. I decided to take an extended break from
writing song reviews in order to recharge the ole' creative juices. However,
the Dial continues to call to me, so I've created something rather special. The
Kyle's Radio Dial playlist!
You know those radio stations that use a slogan
like "Q 107 - we play everything", or "WAVA FM -
playing what we want", but when you get right down to it, they tend
to spin the same overplayed hits with no real surprises? You won't get that
hypocrisy on the Radio Dial's playlist, as I am setting out to emulating the vibe of
classic top 40 radio, in which disparate musical genres happily co-existed on
the same format. The playlist leans heavily toward the '80s and '90s (but
is not limited to those decades), and features an eclectic blend of pop, soul,
dance, rock (yacht, to heavy metal), country, hip hop, jazz, and even a few novelty tunes!
Initially drawing from the over 200 songs I have
reviewed on the blog in the past, I plan to periodically add additional tunes to the
playlist which fit the overall Kyle's Radio Dial ethos. I imagine that when the writing "bug" returns to me, these new playlist additions will
form the basis of my next wave of reviews!
And it goes without saying that you should search
by the artist or song title on the blog to read my reviews, and learn more
about any featured song on the playlist.
